Danny Way has enjoyed an exciting year with the debut of his film Waiting for Lighting and now he is the latest in a long-line of action sports stars to make the transition to auto-racing. Way will make his racing debut in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, June 23 in Salt Lake City. He has been spending the last week testing in various off-road vehicles, working getting the technical part of driving dialed.
Way’s 800hp truck is sure to stand out as it will be wrapped in graphics featuring his skate sponsors Plan B, Element, Nixon, and Independent Trucks.
Way has been blowing up his Twitter with racing related tweets: “Dam didn’t think I’d be out at the track this quick but my voice was heard.. Much appreciation to Element/Plan.” Way’s relationship with his sponsors sped up the process towards his dream of racing, “What a great day of testing. I cannot wait to get into some good old racing fun next week! Thank you everyone who has come together to keep me in pursuit of my goal with racing.”
Way’s long-time friend and fellow skateboarding legend Bucky Lasek also recently made the jump to rallycross, where he will compete at this year’s X Games against fellow crossover athletes Brian Deegan, Travis Pastrana, and Dave Mirra.
