James Stewart’s Up and Down 2012 Outdoor Motocross Season

After a brief hiatus due to a wrist injury, Round 6 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship this past weekend at Red Bud wasn’t quite the return to the championship race that James Stewart hoped for.

In the fourth installment of Outsider, a series documenting Stewart’s journey through the 2012 Outdoor motocross season, Stewart struggles after a blistering start with back-to-back wins. Since then, Stewart has slowly fell behind points leader Ryan Dungey, who is one win away from clinching his second Outdoor title.

Stewart admits to falling short of his expectations stating, “It’s not where I wanted to be at right now. I’m a little rusty. I need to find some self-discipline. I’ve been working really hard, maybe too hard, but maybe I just need to grow a sack.”

Whether or not Stewart’s decision to leave JGR to ride for Suzuki will benefit his career is yet to be determined. But what we can come to expect is some sort of drama from the tour’s most entertaining riders.
