Nitro Circus 3D Premieres in Hollywood

Three years in the making, the Nitro Circus crew finally got the chance to show off their hard work and all out madness to their friends and family when they premiered Nitro Circus 3D at the famous Chinese Man Theater in Hollywood, California.

The film directed by Greg Godfrey and Jeremy Rawle will be released in theaters nationwide on August 9. It’s easy to draw comparisons to Jackass, but there’s one fundamental difference as Johnny Knoxville explained during the film, “The stunts in Jackass were always designed to fail, if Nitro Circus stunts fail, people die.”

The premise of the film is a Nitro Circus motto: “An epic fail needs an epic make for us to put the epic fail in the movie. If someone comes up with a stunt and fails then someone else has to step up and do it.” The film stays true to their motto as it documents gnarly stunt after gnarly stunt leading up to last year’s Nitro Circus live show at the MGM in Las Vegas.

“We went too far with almost every stunt, subsequently Nitro Circus was self-funded. We couldn’t get anyone to take the risk. No one would insure it or buy off on it. They all said we would kill ourselves if we tried half the stuff we planned,” Pastrana explained. “Streetbike Tommy jumped a jet boat over 100 feet of land, and that was an easier one. It was a group of guys having a good time pushing each other doing stuff we definitely should not be doing, and living to tell the tale.”

The event was a monumental moment for the crew, so much so that Travis decided to dress up for the festivities in a suit and bow-tie, a pretty rare site for him. “Half the guys here at X Games are in the movie. That’s why the premiere is here. We just wanted to show it to all of our friends as a way to say thank you for all of your hard work, all the sacrifice and thank you for paying your way out to come risk your life without even being sure the clip will make it into the movie.”
