Dubbed the best rally driver in the world, Sebastian Loeb was every bit as good as advertised. In the final, Loeb pulled away from the pack right from the start, only to be drawn back into the field by an early red flag. On the re-start Loeb enjoyed a second opportunity to smoke competitors on his way to victory, proving to the U.S. audience he’s the real deal.
The reason Loeb decided to compete at X Games was a challenge issued by his fellow Red Bull teammate Travis Pastrana. Unfortunately, Pastrana’s weekend wasn’t as successful. We knew heading into X Games Pastrana was going to have a relatively short week as he wasn’t competing in any Motocross events for the first time in awhile. But no one expected his appearance would be as short as it was. In his qualifying heat, Pastrana grabbed the hole-shot, heading into turn one, only to be driven into the wall by 58-year-old rookie Andy Scott. And just like that, Pastrana’s X Games was finished in less than 10 seconds.
