Glowing skate park debuts in France

Korean artist and sculptor Koo Jeong-A has just unveiled her amazing new creation, Otro, a glow-in-the-dark skate park tucked in the woods on France’s Vassiviere Island at the International Center for Art and Landscape. Jeong-A surfaced the park, which resembles a mutated concrete kidney bowl with a cradle and three tunnels, with green phosphorescent concrete.

Not too many art installations double as world-class skate venues.

The project was originally conceived in 2008 and took four years to design and build. Jeong-A hopes that riders of all sports will “share the physical and sensorial experience of her work by ‘skating the landscape,’” according to a press release about the park.

By day the park appears normal but once the sun dips, the eerie green glow fills the pool, providing night sessions without a power bill. Going green indeed.
