Apparently there is more to the Sea Otter Classic than riding a bike. NHS and Road Rider hosted the The Laguna Seca Invitational Downhill event at the famed raceway, honoring the 1981 downhill race when Roger Hickey and John Hutson battled down the track.

Watching the competition made me think back to 10 years ago when the Gravity Games had skateboarders racing at up to 70-mph, an event that resulted in some of the heaviest skateboarding crashes we’ve seen. Perhaps it’s time for the X Games to bring back a downhill skate event.
