The skateboarding industry’s elite made their way to Hollywood last night for the 14th annual TransWorld Skateboarding Awards– honoring the best of the best from 2011.
The night belonged to Nyjah Huston for his outstanding 2011 season. Nyjah dominated the contest scene with three Street League victories and a gold medal at the X Games. He also released his highly anticipated film Rise and Shine while managing to bag the cover of multiple skateboard magazines.
Nyjah began the night by winning Best Video Part for his segments in Rise and Shine. He also collected Best Street and the New Era Readers’ Choice Award. Huston’s three awards have only been duplicated once before– by Guy Mariano in 2008. Coincidentally, Mariano won the same three categories.
A big moment for GrindTV came when Dan Mizicko won the Cinematographer Contest. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Dan is one half of the brotherhood duo in the StuckinOhio Crew.
