Skater Nick Dompierre on recovering from broken neck, drug-induced coma

Skateboarder magazine just released the first episode of a new series called “What’s the Story?” that delves into skater Nick Dompierre’s tumble into dark places and subsequent rise out of them.

In the video Dompierre talks about how breaking his neck in 2011 and dealing with his mother’s heroine addiction caused him to lose all his sponsors and begin partying hard. It got so bad he eventually found himself in a drug-induced coma–something that got all over the airwaves thanks to an ESPN story. To find out how Dompierre crawled out of the darkness to begin practicing the sport he loves again, click play below. (Warning–there is some foul language in the clip.)
