Heavy rain in the New York area threaten to end Manny Mania for the second straight year, but mother nature had other plans deciding to give Red Bull a break.
The clouds parted as Joey Brezinski went to work winning his third Manny Mania title in the last five years.
The contest saw some of the best in technical skateboarding hit the custom built course, designed by Brezinski himself. He’s often credited as the mayor of this contest and he proved exactly why he’s the king of manuals. Brezenski had his hands full with Saturday’s AM contest winner Sewa Kroetkov from The Netherlands who went trick for trick with his idol. Sewa came in second place, beating out many of the top pros who only a day ago were his idols, and are now his equals.
For Sewa there’s no better place to make a name for yourself in skateboarding than doing well in NYC as the city is to skateboarding as pipeline is to surfing.
Third place went to David Gonzalez, who walked away with some special plans for his prize money, “I can’t even believe I got 3rd in a manual contest, I don’t really skate manuals at all! I’m going to buy 4 guitars, that’s it.”
