Tony Hawk Rad Science

What does the study of Physics have to do with Tony Hawk? Everything, actually. From the force of gravity and velocity to inertia and balance, all of these factors make his amazing tricks possible.

From May 26 to September 3, Tony Hawk will join forces with science for the
exhibit entitled Tony Hawk | Rad Science at UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science museum.
During a special premiere event on June 2 Hawk will be hand to help kick off summer with an exclusive skate demo.

The exhibit will feature more than 20 interactive experiences including everything from Tony’s 900 Vert Theater to footage of his first-ever 900. Other exhibits will feature the evolution of the skateboard and a street course on a stationary board that tests your balance with tricks like grinds and manuals.

“Physics relates to everything that we do,” said Berkeley physics professor Joel Fajans. “This cool new exhibition shows how a visit to a local skatepark can demonstrate important physics principles.”
