X Games Opens Voting for 2012 Real Street

X Games will be held a month early this summer in Los Angeles, June 28 to July 1. As the weeks count down, X Games opened voting for the 2012 version of Real Street.

Designed to highlight the core side of skateboarding, Real Street was introduced back in 2010 to the delight of skateboarders. 16 street skateboarders team up with their filmers to submit a 60-second video part for a shot at $50,000 and an X Games Gold medal. Similar to last year, a panel of judges will pick the winning part.

This year’s field of skaters is arguably the most competitive yet with the likes of Nyjah Huston, Silas Baxter-Neal, Collin Provost, and Manny Santiago.

One important aspect of the Real Street competition is the fan’s role. Fans are encouraged to vote on a tournament-style bracket for their favorite part each week before X Games LA 2012. The skater who racks up the most fan-votes wins $50,000.

Voting dates:
Opening Round: June 5-11
Quarterfinals: June 12-18
Semifinals: June 19-25
Finals: June 26-July 1
