While many people celebrated Cinco de Mayo by drinking tequila and indulging in copious amounts of Mexican fare, Bent Metal spent the holiday hosting Kinko De Mayo, a rowdy, end-of-season rail jam held at Mt. Bachelor, Oregon. The course was filled with five features with Mexican-themed names in celebration of the holiday. The “Tijuana Tube,” “El Burro,” “Burrito Box,” “Tub-a-lero,” and “El Guapo” were each judged by a different pro and saw plenty of heavy action throughout the day.
The judges selected a Best Trick and Overall Winner on each feature and also chose the Overall Kinko de Mayo winner. In between chips and salsa breaks, Aaron Cardwell stomped impressive tricks on the jibs and took top honors at the laid-back shred event.
For his efforts, Cardwell won the coveted prize of an invitation to Snowboarder Mag’s Superpark at Mt. Bachleor this week. Connor Brown filmed all the action and said, “Kinko De Mayo was super fun. The features were creative, the boarding was fun to watch, and everyone had an awesome time. Chips, salsa, and shredding. What could be better?”
