Colorado’s Keystone Resort to open with a celebratory rail jam

Keystone Resort in Summit County, Colorado, opened for the winter season on Friday. The resort, which is popular among skiers and snowboarders for its progressive A51 terrain park, will open with 25 to 30 park features and four runs accessible by five lifts. That’s a hefty amount of trails and features, considering most resorts only open with one run, commonly known as the “the white ribbon of death.” Thanks to favorable weather, Keystone was able to run its snow guns continuously, which upped its ante for an awesome opening.

In conjunction with the resort’s highly anticipated kickoff to the season, they will also hold the Back to the Grind Rail Jam on Saturday evening.

Here’s what you can expect during the Back to the Grind Rail Jam:

- An action-packed rail jam held under the lights at the base of River Run with pros and average joes battling it out on a set-up consisting of a flat-down box, down rail, and double kink rail.

- Plenty of great prizes, including a cash purse and free entry into Keystone’s 2013 Backyard BBQ Rail Session Final for the top male and female in each category. Prize bags for the second and third places finishers in each division.

- A snow-festival atmosphere with DJ DC spinning tunes, food trucks, vendor tents, crowd giveaways, and plenty of refreshments (beer!).

Check out this edit to see what the set-up will look like. See you there!
