While Hurricane Sandy was wreaking unprecedented havoc in places like New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, it dumped blizzards in places where there usually isn’t much snow, like Canaan Valley, West Virginia. “Chip Chase can’t remember a blizzard warning in the local forecast for Canaan Valley, West Virginia, well, ever,” wrote Powder magazine‘s Ryan Dunfee. “But [Tuesday], the Vermont native woke up at the base of Whitegrass, the cross country and backcountry skiing area he owns in northern West Virginia, with thirty inches of heavy snow blocking his door.” To read more about the snowstorms, click here, or watch them by clicking play in the video below.
