Dramatic videotape uploaded Tuesday shows a young skier falling from a chair lift from a distance of what is said to be 45-plus feet. (Be warned that the footage might be difficult for some to watch, and that there is brief profanity at the end.) The skier was not identified in the video but was said to have suffered a skull fracture, concussion, collapsed lung and lacerated liver.

The video was uploaded by YouTube user TriipyHD, who has been asked via message to provide the approximate date and location of the accident. A quick search on YouTube, under a “kid falls from chairlift” and “skier falls from chairlift” searches, revealed multiple videos showing accidents, but no apparent matching content. To restate, we do not yet know how recently this accident occurred.

TriipyHD’s description begins: “I was skiing when my friend gets off balance and ends up hanging from the chair. He did not have the security bar down. He hung from about Pole 8 to 21, and at 21 he fell.”

The skier was said to have been airlifted, via helicopter, to a local hospital.
