When John Burns bought Alyeska Resort in 2007, he immediately started to do what any other Dead Head/Skier would do: He started combining his two passions of music and skiing. Five years later, Girdwood locals are reaping the rewards. Alyeska has become a true skier’s resort and gets better every year, and the acts that play the resort’s signature night spot, The Sitzmark, keep improving as well. One of those locals is Simon Evans, a Girdwood property manager, photographer and drummer. When Eric McFadden–the guitar virtuoso who spent three years picking for George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars–came to play the Sitz during the epic winter of 2012, he needed someone to bang the skins. He called Evans, who conveniently lives across the street, and keeps a kit at the bar. Evans made this short edit of the experience.
