Signal Snowboards builds a solar powered snowboard

The newest episode of Signal Snowboard’s “Every Third Thursday” just dropped, and with it comes another entertaining and advanced snowboard design. This time, the Signal crew and founder Dave Lee team up with Powerfilm Solar and create a solar-powered snowboard. Yes, you read that right–a bona fide board that is powered by the sun.

The build begins at the Signal Snowboard factory, where flexible solar panels are adhered to the snowboard top sheet and wired into a converter that’s mounted between the bindings. Then the invention is tested by pro snowboarder Tyler Flanagan, who straps in and charges jumps at Mammoth Mountain while charging his electronics at the same time.

Sound crazy? That’s because it is. Check it all out in this electrifying episode of “Every Third Thursday.”
