A snowboarder enjoying fresh powder in the mountains of Murren, Switzerland, was boarding in some deep stuff along the trees when he encountered a steep rock crevice right in front of him. Unable to avoid the deep hole, the snowboarder fell right into it, his helmet camera capturing the entire episode, all 7 1/2 minutes. Though a bit long, you see the fall about 30 seconds in, and later see how the snowboarder used his board to escape. Watch:
Luca Joel Koller, the snowboarder in the video who lives in Whistler, Canada, but is from Gais, Switzerland, said on Twitter: “Biggest accident in my career; fell in a deep rock crevice…And I recorded it.”
He added later, “I was very lucky I didn’t get hurt.”
Seriously. He was very lucky. He was fortunate to have landed upright on his snowboard and lucky he wasn’t completely buried in snow. As it was, he had to dig the snowboard out of the snow, then climb out using his snowboard.
“I love snowboarding and do crazy stuff with my GoPro,” Koller said on his YouTube channel.
Maybe so, but he probably doesn’t usually do stuff this crazy.
