So-Gnar Shred Circuit contest series kicks off at Copper Mountain

The So-Gnar Shred Circuit contest series held its first event of the season at Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado late last week.

The series is open to all levels of riders and provides snowboarders the chance to ride innovative features at numerous resorts around the country while competing in a laid-back atmosphere that focuses on the root of snowboarding–having fun.

Pat Milbery, pro snowboarder and founder of So-Gnar, a lifestyle snowboard company, was at Copper for the first Shred Circuit event, so we got in touch with him for the run-down on all the action.

Here’s what he had to say.

What was the overall vibe at the first Shred Circuit contest of the season?
The energy of the first Shred Circuit was great. It was dumping snow, which makes any day of life better and more enjoyable. The riders were all having fun sessioning together, which is why we created the Shred Circuit–to bring snowboarders together to enjoy snowboarding and feed off of each other’s energy, skills, and creative imaginations!

What was your favorite feature the Woodward Park Crew built, and best trick you saw go down on it?
I was impressed by the Coalatree Pole Jam feature with a transfer to the So-Gnar Wallride. There were a few riders who destroyed that transfer. Best trick I saw was a 5050 up it to flunt blunt disaster with a 270 out.

What was your favorite moment from the Shred Circuit contest at Copper?
Probably just being a part of a good group of people and building once again with Woodward at Copper folks. Watching Colorado embrace and have fun with the concept is what we hoped would happen. Thanks to the Woodward park crew for all their work.

Which stop of the Shred Circuit contest are you most looking forward to and why?
I’m excited for our next stop at Loveland Ski Area in Colorado on Dec. 1. Loveland is a new stop for us, and we are really excited about adding them on this year. Loveland has a great local, hometown mom and pops vibe as a ski area. The people are really nice and generous, and they have been trying to step up their park program. So, I feel we can help out and get some good momentum at the resort early on in the season and build from here on out like a lot of the other communities we travel to with the tour.

Anything else?
Enjoy the shred, and I hope everyone has a great holiday with their families and we hope to see you at our next tour stop Dec. 1 through Dec. 2 at Loveland Ski Area in Colorado. If not, visit so-gnar.com/snowboardcamptour and come enjoy snowboarding with us at your home mountain.
