Friday marks two years to the day of the tragic passing of Kauaian Andy Irons, and the reality of it is still hard to come to terms with. With the World Tour stop in Santa Cruz, California, on hold Friday, the O’Neill team got their camera crew to gather some memories of the late great AI from his most historic rival, Kelly Slater. From fist fights, to world title battles, to an eventual friendship, the two shared the entire gamut of emotions for one another. Great to hear the champ speak so candidly about one of surfing’s true legends.
