Get to know your filmer: Tony Adams

Truth: the guy holding the camera rarely gets the deserved recognition for his talents. Anyone who has actually tried to film someone else surfing can tell you, it’s not easy. Not to mention the knowlege of cameras, lighting, editing, music, and good taste in all of the above that it takes to be one the professional level.

Here we have Tony Adams, a filmer out of surf city Huntington Beach. Tony made a run at a surf career doing a couple WQS contests before eventually falling back on his love of photo and cinema. He is currently Timmy Reyes personal filmer and also does his share of freelance on the side. Check out his website here.

Still residing in Huntington Beach, Tony often has other OC pros in front of his lens. Here’s Brett Simpson surfing in the rain.

Here Tony takes us along with Timmy Reyes to check out the crib of Norcal legend and pioneer of Mavericks and Ghost Tree, Don Curry. The first 3 and a half minutes are of that excursion, which segways into some pre-contest San Fran free-surf footage from earlier this year.
