Kanoa Igarashi sweeps Rip Curl Gromsearch

On Saturday in fun surf at Upper Trestles in San Clemente, California, Kanoa Igarashi, the young 15-year-old phenom from California’s Huntington Beach, took out both the 14-and-under division and the 16-and-under at the Rip Curl Gromsearch National Championships. The 16-and-under final featured fellow rising stars Cam Richards, Noah Sheizer, and Taylor Clark, who finished second. Igarashi breezed through the other final, leaving all three of his competitors comboed when the heat ended.

North Carolina’s Luke Gordon took out the boys 12-and-under, and Hawaiian Tatiana Webb won the girls division.

These happy campers have booked themselves tickets to next year’s world tour stop at Bells Beach, Australia, to compete in the Gromsearch World Championships.
