Daybreak and an early 5:30am call revealed head high glassy tubes grinding down the righthand rock-reef-rivermouth on Bali’s Southeast coast this morning. The boys wasted no time in getting out in perfect Keramas with only one other bloke to share it with.

After running several heats in the early morning glass, competition was put on hold for a few hours to wait out the tide and wind. The boys were able to get through the 16 heats off round 2, setting up some interesting matchups for round 3. Defending champion Jack Freestone will face the giant-killing indo Darmaputra Tonjo, who took out defending runner-up Nat Young yesterday.
