Just because the Nike Chosen contest is over doesn’t mean the crews are breaking up. Take last summer’s finalists from Maui, Chomp Proper. Although Albee Layer and Matt Meola live in Haiku, some 40 miles from the other half of their crew, Hank Gaskell and Dege O’Connell in Hana, they still make the trek to the opposite end of the island’s North Shore.

Here Albee and Matt scoop up Dege and Hank for a little road trip. After a stellar winter season, they’re bored of head-high beachbreak barrels and resort to a goat-boat competition. With a wave like Jaws down the road, this is child’s play for these guys.
