Rip Curl debuts new series ‘Rubber Souls’

Our pals over at Rip Curl have just started a new web series titled “Rubber Souls,” which showcases some exclusive footage of their team riders ripping in chilly waters around the globe. The first episode features Mick Fanning, and the newest one features Gabe Medina, both filmed at Trestles, California, as the boys warmed up for the Hurley Pro in September.

Lower Trestles is widely regarded as the premier canvas for hi-fi surfing, so it’s interesting to note the contrast in approaches between the two. Mick, with his speed and power-based rail surfing, occasionally highlighted with an air or two, and Gabe, with his constant aerial acrobatics, spending more time above the wave than on it.

The two are both currently in Portugal at the Rip Curl Pro, where Mick just missed the quarterfinals by losing to Owen Wright, and Gabe will be facing Josh Kerr when competition resumes.
