Sancho at Lakey Peak

Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelago, boasting over 17,000 islands, which stretch over 3,200 miles of Indian Ocean. Places like Bali, and nearby G-land are meccas of surf travel, forcing the adventurous to search farther and farther for uncrowded waves. These days places like Lakey Peak, deep in Eastern Sumbawa, are seeing massive crowds arrive for big swells. The rewards are obvious after watching this clip of Frenchman Ben ‘Sancho’ Sanchis tearing into Lakey’s premier waves. But most would agree that seeing a crowded lineup at the end of such a long road is quite a shock.
