Several new faces to headline 2013 ASP World Tour, tentative schedule released

With the collective hangover from Joel Parkinson’s maiden ASP World Title and Billabong Pipeline Masters victory parties finally fading into Monday, we can turn our attention to the road ahead: the 2013 tour.

Several new faces will headline next year’s action, led by Triple Crown superstar Sebastian Zietz from Hawaii, along with Ireland’s first tour contender, Glenn Hall, California’s new hope, Nat Young of Santa Cruz, and finally Brazilian phenom Filipe Todelo. For a preview of Toledo’s bag of tricks, watch the clip below filmed at Rocky Point on Oahu’s North Shore last week.

The much coveted injury wildcards were given to Raoni Monteiro of Brazil and Dusty Payne of Hawaii. Pat Gudauskas and Yadin Nicol are replacements No. 1 and No. 2 in the likely event that someone pulls out of an event.

At this time the 2013 tour schedule is looking very similar to 2012 with the notable exception of the Santa Cruz event. As we have already experienced, this schedule will undoubtedly change before the first singlet is donned at Snapper Rocks on Australia’s Gold Coast in March, especially considering the impending ASP takeover by ZoSea, the new media management company that has been shrouded in secrecy thus far. Rumors of a new event somewhere in the Indian Ocean (Indonesia would be a safe bet) are already creeping through the halls.
