Summer Styling with Alex Knost

As most of the cutting edge surf collective strives to do bigger airs and bigger turns in bigger waves, there are still a growing number of souls who are far more concerned with not being concerned. Surfers whose lifestyle and variety of surf sled make them interesting to us rather than their last contest result.

Al Knost is one of these characters: riding long and short boards, retro fishes, and fronting a successful band The Japanese Motors, all within the confines of his home in Newport Beach.

Knost has caught his share of flak but remained an ever-colorful character. And this clip makes it hard to dislike his style of life. Dancing gracefully in the warm Central American waters groomed by offshore winds, winding tubes, and a pretty girl on the beach.
