This year on the North Shore, Kaui’s Koa Smith was a breakout performer. The younger of the Smith brothers, Koa put in excellent performances at Pipe and Off the Wall all winter, as evidenced by the clips below. To cap off his freesurf performances, Koa also took second place at the Pipeline Pro Jr, scoring a perfect 10 in the process, and falling just short of the win to blog-rival Conner Coffin.
