The Bono: Sumatran Tidal Bore Lives

First publicized last year by Rip Curl’s Tip 2 Tip expedition, where deep in the Sumatran jungle– hundreds of miles inland– Tom Curren and crew unveiled some of the most mesmerizing tidal bore footage to date. Stories of crazed fisherman, predatory animals, insects of every variety, and dreadful travel problems rounded out the picture, which was more than enough to keep the place from becoming the next Kuta Beach.

Yet the Bono still lives, and it’s still jaw-droppingly perfect. Here Michael Barber makes the journey with his father and friend Eddie. All lived to tell the tale on film, and Barber puts on quite the hi-fi show in the buttery brown conditions.
