Surfboard design and construction has seen an explosion of progress since the sudden closure of surfboard blanks manufacturer Clark Foam, which loosened their stranglehold on surfboard materials in 2005. New materials and methods of construction have been the most notable advancements, and one of the men at the forefront of this movement is Australia’s Hayden Cox. Besides a successful shaping label, Hayden Shapes, Mr. Cox also runs FutureFlex, one of the most popular new epoxy hybrid technologies now being used by shapers worldwide.
The following video is a short edit of Hayden Shapes team rider Beau Foster taking flight in Bali and West Oz aboard “The Ando,” a signature board named after fellow teammate Craig Anderson.
