The 2012 Innersection entry process has begun, and there are already a couple of early highlights. The brainchild of surf cinema kingpin Taylor Steele, this revolutionary user-generated method of surf video production has done a great job of shining a spotlight on talented surfers who don’t necessarily have the big company sponsorship dollars to travel the world.
This year the Innersection contest has changed a bit, opening a 5 month period from July 1 to December 1 as a single continuous round, with videos being uploaded and viewed at any time during that period. Just over 2 weeks in, these four sections have risen to the top of the heap. Costa Rican Gilbert Brown turns in a well-rounded section, full of big airs and gaping tubes, while Shipstern’s bluff devotee Sandy Ryan gives us nothing but deadly slab barrels, and Matt McCabe and Matt Pallet show us some impressive aerial work.
