The New Mexico

You may or may not have heard some murmurs in the last year regarding a certain stretch of Mainland Mexican coastline. The gist of it is this: A once semi-secret series of absolutely epic right sand-points and jetties was thrust into the spotlight by a Rip Curl Search contest. Outsiders invade, pros, photogs, circus. Not bueno. The locals respond by banning pros and filmers/photogs from the area for 2 years or so.

Now what?

Sorry Morocco, looks like you’re next.

Morocco and Mexico have a lot of similarities: cheap, hot, desert-y, tan locals, and most importantly- perfect righthand pointbreaks for miles.

Recently there has been a flood of Moroccan clips pouring into my eyelids (here, here, and here) and I think we can expect this to continue for a long time, or at least until those muchachos down South decide we can come back.

Here is another Moroccan gem.
