As the dust settles after a nail biting and controversial climax to the last World Tour event in Portugal, the Rip Curl Pro at Peniche’s Supertubos, Julian Wilson has his first World Tour win under his belt. Many in the Gabriel Medina camp and beyond have argued that Gabs deserved victory in that final. Regardless, in any sport that has judges there is a degree of subjective opinion involved, which will always leave room for question. Both Julian and Gabriel surfed very differently on very different waves, with Jules hunting the tube and Gabs taking to the sky. In the end the judges gave the nod to Jules.
