The latest in Oakley’s “Dispatch” series comes to us from the island of Java in Indonesia. Team members Seabass Zietz, Dustin Barca, Lee Wilson, Eric Geiselman, and Danny Fuller followed local legend Betet Merta deep into the jungle to a secret reef set-up where right- and left-hand slabs awaited. Much of Bali and Lombok are now very crowded, but the ferry rides and long overland journey have kept Java off the radar for most travelers. The sheer dangers of this reef pass should keep it that way for some time.
