| Wakeboarders head to china. The world Cup Series is taking place in china this weekend and as the weekend draws closer wakeboarders are jumping on planes heading to china. At least 10-20 pro wakeboarders will be attending the world games in china this weekend. With a showing of every country involved in water sports it should be a great weekend to showcase the sport. The long flight to china is not too pleasant for some already I've heard. Facebook is supposably banned from china and most wakeboarders are facebook fanatics. So this week facebook will be short 10-20 people and my updates page will probably be stuck. Among the 10-20 riders going to china is Andrew Adkison, Aaron Rathy, Kyle Rattary, Austin Hair and more. There even some women heading out to represent america. If this weekend is anything like the past America should have no problem bringing home the win. Its no secret that the best wakeboarders come out of America. Having the wakeboarder of the year and phoneme Aaron Rathy riding I am sure hell be a tough contender. Orlando, Fla. - Fans packed shores of the Orlando Watersports Complex in Orlando, Fla. today for the final rounds of action at the 2009 ROCKSTAR WWA Wakeboard World Championships, presented by Supra. In the Pro Women division, Orlando's own Dallas Friday made a splash on her hometown waters today, winning her first world title since 2006 - her fourth of her career. England's Nicola Butler finished in second place, while Aussie Amber Wing took third. Canada's Aaron Rathy edged out 15-year-old Australian rookie phenom Harley Clifford 87.50 to 85.00 in today's Pro Men division finals to win his first world title. Clifford and former two-time world champ Andrew Adkison rounded out the contest podium, respectively. The 2009 Worlds served as the final event in both the King of Wake and Queen of Wake series. With today's wins, both Aaron Rathy and Dallas Friday were launched to the top of the series overall point standings, earning Rathy his first King of Wake crown and Friday her first Queen of Wake crown. Both riders received a cash bonus and a year's worth of bragging rights. During today's contest, Shaun Murray claimed the ROCKSTAR Best Trick Award for his massive Heelside 540 of off the U.S. Air Force kicker. The Award is a $1,000 cash prize. Defending world champ Reed Hansen of Groveland, Fla. faced off in a fierce five-man final today in the Pro Wakeskate division to win his third consecutive world title - the most any pro wakeskater has won in the history of the sport. Stuart Shinn and Brandon Thomas rounded out the podium. In the Jr. Pro Men's division, riders battled it out in a six-man final for the world title. All six riders threw down some impressive runs, but Aussie Mitch Langfield topped the competition to win his first World Championship. Daniel Powers and Steel Lafferty rounded out the contest podium, respectively. Over two days, more than 25,000 spectators experienced some of the nation' (TM)s top wakeboarders showing off their best tricks on the ' Wake Lab,' a one-of-a-kind floating skatepark. The first day of competition got off to a rocky start as 50 mph gusts of wind caused two of the qualifying rounds to be postponed. But Saturday brought clear skies and calm winds, and an early start allowed the event to get right back on track. At the end of a day of tight competition, four riders walked away with awards ' " Aaron Rathy (Most Progressive), Adam Errington (Best Trick), Parks Bonifay (Best Line) and JD Webb (Best Overall). ' Red Bull Wake Lab Tempe was hands-down the best wakeboarding event I' (TM)ve ever participated in,' said wakeboarding pro JD Webb. The event also featured a performance by two members of the Red Bull Air Force, a 12-man team assembled from the most accomplished and experienced skydivers, BASE jumpers and paragliders on the planet. Team members John Devore and Mike Swanson wowed the crowd as they dropped from the skies and soared into Tempe Beach Park, skillfully landing in the lake. Red Bull Wake Lab made its debut in Orlando, FL in September 2008, and was an instant success with riders and fans alike. Created as an experiment to see how far the boundaries of the sport of wakeboarding could be pushed, the groundbreaking event seeks to ' evolve' the sport of wakeboarding. Influenced by the design of the modern skateboarding skatepark and snowboarding snowpark, a massive ' wakepark' was specially designed with the goal of taking wakeboarding somewhere it had never been before. The result, dubbed ' The Wake Lab,' allows riders to perform sets of tricks that were once impossible, raising the sport to new levels. In order to evolve the sport and create new experiences for riders, a new technology needed to be introduced to take full advantage of the revolutionary wakepark structure. This came to fruition when the ' The Wake Lab' was coupled with the Sesitec System 2.0 overhead pulley system. No boats are needed to tow the wakeboarders, as this revolutionary pulley system allows athletes to take two full runs (back and forth) across the wakepark' (TM)s various rails, pools, sliders and 15-foot wall.
