There are only four aces in a pack of cards, but Adrian "Ace" Buchan is just one of many in the up-and-coming loaded pack of Aussie surfing talent. As assuredly a future fixture as a trump card, young Buchan will be "aceing" many a victim over the coming decade. The dependable eighteen-year-old goofy-footer hails from the talent-laden NSW Central Coast beach of Avoca. Introduced to the ocean at the age of four by his Rhodesian father Ian, Ace has grown and developed as a surfer, always striving to meet the lofty standards set by the generation before his-by local surfers like Mark Sainsbury, Ross Clarke-Jones, and Shane Powell. Just like his elder peers, (Adrian's a longtime member of the Avoca Boardriders Club A.B.C.-another of the many clubs that provide the framework on which Australia's surfing heritage is built)-young Adrian has always been a keen and able surfing student. With two world grommet titles under his belt, as well as being champion of the Australasian Junior Series, he's well on his way to attaining the standards of the crew who has gone before him. He's now working on the "quality instead of quantity" formula, an asset acquirable as he matures and puts some meat on those gifted limbs of his.
