Benji's a character. I know a girl who was hanging out with him for a week or so in Hawaii, and had no idea who he was. He told her he was a painter, or an electrician, or something, I forget. Anyway, one day she opened the trunk of his car to find it filled with brand new Billabong clothes (at the time he rode for Billabong). She's all, "What the hell is all this," and he's all "I don't know." Needless to say she found out who he was.

That's just Benji for you. He's funny as hell, but he also rips. He'll tell you he sucks, he's out of shape and doesn't surf anymore. Then the waves will get good and he'll shred so hard you'll have to eat a whole humble pie.

He grew up on the North Shore of Oahu and was part of the
"Newschool" "Momentum crew." His house, known as the "Weatherly House," for obvious reasons, was frequented by Slater, Machado and the rest of the boys all through his teen years.

Benji's also a big deal in North County San Diego and he has a Blink 182 song about him, "Mutt." That's because he's
