Carlson wasn't pleased with his 2005 performance, though he finished a decent 8th on the AMA Supermoto series. In order to keep his KTM ride for 2006, Benny agreed to compete on the less competitive Unlimited series, and he's leading the class as of XG '06.

Benny struggled with mono at XG '04 and throughout much of the 2004 AMA Supermoto series. Despite his fatigue, he still managed third overall in the Unlimited class in AMA action. After missing the first final of the 2004 season, Benny had podiums in 4 of 6 Unlimited races

Though young and without much experience in motocross, flat track or road racing, Ben has an advantage over some because he's dabbled in all three disciplines, and the time on different surfaces served him well on the 2003 AMA Supermoto series. Riding in both the Limited and Unlimited class, Ben had 6 Supermoto podiums.
