| Dew Tour Ready to Kickoff Tomorrow! Ocean City is set to go for the first event of this summer's Dew Tour, the Pantech Open. The world's best are already on the course, getting used to whatever the masterminds of courses have put together and probably only hitting the box jump. The two names that can not be ignored are Daniel Dhers and Brett Banasiewicz. Though Brett had a poor showing last year, and many other names could be brought up, Daniel and Brett are without a doubt the most consistent competitors. Especially considering Brett won't be distracted with competing dirt since it's cancelled for this event. All in all it's going to be a great year. We'll see if Jamie Bestwick continues his dominance that has almost become a bad thing for the discipline of vert as it would seem like he has no competition. When's Coco gonna win? Dhers will fight to defend his park title but if Banana Sandwich can focus on both park and dirt in the later events he might have a double cup season. And Brandon Dosch will have to defend his dirt title against Brett, but we all know TJ Ellis should have won anyway. Check out this cool preview video from Dew Tour with Ryan Nyquist. Ryan worked with the course designers to make this Dew Tour event more than a box jump competition. It's unfortunate that most of the creative lines won't be seen as competitors stick to tricks on basic ramps, but it looks like there is some added size to the course overall and it'll be interesting to see how the riders use this size. Channels: Bike 2010 Dew Tour Championships Results There are lots of things to say about this exciting your-ending event, but the biggest is that Bestwick, after winning every previous event, didn't sweep this year! Chad Kagy swooped right from under him by a quarter of a point. Bestwick still, however, won the Dew Tour cup for a stellar year overall, but it's just exciting for us all to say that somebody else won a vert event. And if there was anybody to do it, it is definitely Chad Kagy. How do you beat Bestwick you ask? Well the ingredients go something like 1 double whip flair, 2 or 3 whip flairs, 1 barspin to no hander flair, and a slew of other peppers and spices like superman seatgrabs and barspins. Another notable vert moment is DMC taking third. Haven't seen ole McCoy on the podium in a while. Here's the top 5 vert riders in the standings for this year:2010 Dew Tour Vert Results 1. Jamie Bestwick 2. Chad Kagy 3. Simon Tabron 4. Steve McCann 5. Coco Zurita Dirt could also be considered an upset after all the Banana Sandwich talk. Brett Banasiewicz started competing in dirt and slaying the entire event with cash rolls and triple whips and any ridiculous video game trick these days. However, his performance would land him in 5th place at this event. The podium goes to Brandon Dosch (1), TJ Ellis (2), and Anthony Napolitan (3). Even Gary Young beat Banasiewicz, taking fourth and proving that style and creativity can beat flips and whips. Once again, TJ Ellis... TJ doesn't... What can I say, man? A flip whip and a front flip whip... For second? Dosch's triple whip to double whip to 360 flip thingy is better than that? Well, good things I'm not a Dew judge, eh? I liked A Nap's turndown to turndown and dirt went off surprisingly gnarly after seeing that horrific TJ Lavin crash. Speaking of, get well soon Teej! Here's the top 5 dirt riders from this year's tour:2010 Dew Tour Dirt Results 1. Brandon Dosch 2. Brett Banasiewicz 3. TJ Ellis 4. Luke Parslow 5. Dennis Enarson Look out! What's that!? It's Ryan Nyquist passing you in the standings after sitting in the back of the pack for the most part. Typical Nyquist. If you follow my blog, you probably expect me to start hating on Nyquist and talking about judging, but this is a well-deserved win for the BMX veteran and I'm stoked for him to take a win I totally agree with. I'd like to have seen Reynolds (3) and Dhers (2) swap places finish wise but that's a whole other story. Nyquist use the course to its fullest, taking advantage of the nooks and crannies other riders overlooked. Reynolds did so as well, putting some big tricks in big places like only he can do. Dhers just rode box jumps and spines as usual but he's too good at them to not place podium. I can't disagree too much with this event though. Here's the top 5 park riders for this year: 2010 Dew Tour Park Results 1. Daniel Dhers 2. Garrett Reynolds 3. Mark Webb 4. Brett Banasiewicz 5. Dennis Enarson ![]() Dennis Enarson placed 5th overall in 2 different disciplines. I thought that was pretty "boss" until I realized Brett Banasiewicz placed 2nd overall in dirt and 4th overall in park... Dude, BOSS! He should do vert! photos by allisports.com Channels: Bike 2010 Nike 6.0 HB BMX Pro Qualifying ResultsThe 2010 Nike 6.0 HB BMX Pro goes down like this... 10 dudes rode Thursday and the top 5 of them advance to Saturday. 10 dudes rode Friday and the top 5 of them go Saturday as well. The overall top 5 from last year automatically advance to Saturday (semifinals) so all in all 15 dudes ride against each other Saturday. The top 10 advance to Sunday which is finals. That's where the money is at ladies and gentleman... So! ![]() Thursday, Garrett Reynolds had to up his game for not being in the top 5 last year and get first in his qualifying round. Jeremiah Smith and Brandon Dosch tied for second so who cares both those dudes got in to Saturday. Craig Mast and golden child Brett Banasiewicz also made the cut on day one for semifinals. You know Garrett brought the barspins, Jeremiath brought the supermans, Brandon brought the big a$$ airs, Craig brought the frontflip flairs, and Brett brought everything plus a white, shiny smile. Friday, Dennis Enarson had to prove himself like Garrett Reynolds by placing first in qualifying. Mike Clark (HUCKER) came second, Mark Webb third, young gun Pat Casey fourth, and Allan Cooke fifth. Dennis went crazy like any other day in his life. Hucker brought that hometown hero style for miles. Mark Webb brought more lip tricks and tech than anybody else. Pat Casey brought the bangers to make a name for himself. And Allan Cooke proved being a brand manager for Haro hasn't taken time away from his riding. Chad Kagy, 31 from Gilroy, Calif., placed second with a 92.75 and Australian Steven McCann, 27, rounded out the podium in third with a 92.38. "It's a great start to the season. I'm super excited to take the first stop, but we still have three more and I never underestimate my competition," said Bestwick. "The next three stops are going to be the hardest of my life. Everybody makes it to Vegas so I know the heat is going to be turned up." A BMX dirt jumping competition hosted at an abandoned paper mill in Chicago's Riverwest neighborhood, 50 athletes from all over the world attempted to take on this unique course designed by Fuzzy Hall. While thunderstorms loomed throughout the day and caused competition format changes, the biggest threat of all proved to be former American BMX racer and Metal Mulisha rider Brandon Dosch, who dominated the course to win both the finals and best trick. The 18 jump-course set in the heart of Chicago provided the ultimate playground for BMX's top riders to showcase their talent for the enthusiastic fans, who stayed regardless of the falling rain and were rewarded with a wet and wild final jam session. Windy CityProves Its Nickname The qualifying round, originally scheduled for Friday, had to be bumped to Saturday morning due to the strong gusts present during qualifying. The riders successfully completed one run before the session was officially ended. The top riders from that round -led by Adam Aloise and Drew Bezanson, joined the group of 21pre-selected riders in a two-run final competition. Riders threw it all on the line, not knowing how long the skies would allow them to go. There were plenty of heavy hitters throwing-down,including AST Dirt Champion Ryan Nyquist, who laid out his signature 720's over the course and the teenage phenomenon Dennis Enarson who wowed the judges by throwing a triple pendulum can-can into his run. Ultimately, it was Dosch who overtook the field, highlighted by his 360 double tail whip and an opposite 360Lookback. Chris Doyle took second place with his big 360 inverts and Mike"Hucker" Clark came in third, throwing down a front flip and a truck driver to x-up. The top 10 riders from the Final moved on to a besttrick jam session. TJ Ellis gave Dosch a run for his money with a frontfliptailwhip, but again it was Dosch who came out on top with an amazing tailwhiptransfer. For his extra effort, he wins a year's worth of Chipotle meals - aprize he is sure to get good use out of since he said, "Dude, I go there likefour times a week!" A very excited Dosch summarized, "The contest was super awesome. The jumps were really cool with a unique design. I liked the wall ride at the end. It was difficult, the wind played a big factor, but all the riders know that and had to deal with it out there. But my favorite part of the contest was that it was more laid back, not as stressful as some of the big tours. I think everybody had a good time!" Mike "Hucker" Clark, who led the field after his first run and ended up in 3rd, also had a "sun shiney" perspective on the day, "Red Bull contests are always the best contests there are. The transfers lines were good, Fuzzy and the guys did a great job building the course. Everyone had a great time, and I'm smiling." Top 10 : 1. Brandon Dosch 2. Chris Doyle 3. Mike "Hucker" Clark 4.
