| Deegan battles against DeeganBrian Deegan is no stranger to stiff competition, throughout his whole career he's endured challenges by competitors wanting to take what he has worked so hard to get. Deegan has battled it out on the sports biggest stage, under the brightest lights, endured intense pressure, but nothing prepared him to face his newest challenger; himself. That's right, thanks to advancements in digital editing, the Metal Mulisha General goes head to head with himself, when he takes to the Mulisha compound on his dirt bike and his truck. This sparks an interesting debate; would Deegan with a dirt bike beat Deegan around the track in a truck? Thanks to Metal Mulisha and Maxxis tires we get a futuristic glance into what this race would look like. See for yourselves. They have long dominated X Games in terms of sheer presence for several years now, specifically the number of athletes competing in the Moto X events. This year proves to be no different with 8 of their team riders set to compete in the various Moto X events . Todd Potter will be extremely busy trying to metal in Best Trick, Freestyle, Best Whip and Step Up. Twitch Stenberg is competing in Step Up, Speed & Style, and Freestyle while the General Brian Deegan is trying his luck at Speed & Style and Rally Car. The Crew will no doubt be busy taking home some hardware at X Games 16, but in the mean time check out this video from Metal Mulisha practicing at the Compound. We are not in Africa. In Southern California, "poaching" has taken on quite a different meaning, especially in the inland empire, where Metal Mulisha riders have made a habit of staging moto sessions in places that arent supposed to allow moto sessions. While this type of poaching doesn't involve guns and animals, it does involve danger and running from the law. Riders such as Jimmy Fitzpatrick and Brian Deegan have successfully poached some very interesting locations across the state, including a golf course and the Lilac bridge in San Diego. Check out Metal Mulisha's poaching page for pics and video.. ![]() ![]() Channels: Moto X Games 15 Results: Step UpSix competitors started the Moto X Step Up competition when it kicked off at 7:00pm Thursday night. Kevin Windham was up first with the bar set at 25 feet. He cleared it and so did the following five riders. The riders repeated that action at 26 feet. It was time to raise the bar. The third round saw the bar lifted 3 feet higher now at 29 feet. Metal Mulisha freestyle rider Bryan Deegan was the first to go out unable to clear the bar. Ronnie RennerWith five competitors left they raised the bar to 30 feet. Each competitor easily clears the bar. They move up to 31 feet. Kevin Windham is up first. Windham taps the bar and knocks it to the ground both times - he's out. Renner steps up, and easily clears 30 feet on his KTM two-stroke and he and the remaining riders move on. All riders clear 32 feet. The bar rises a foot again now to 33 feet. The first competitor, Matt Buyten easily clears the bar. Jeremy McGrath is up second he launches and hits the bar. He tries a final time and strikes out once more - he is out of the competition. Renner steps up, throws a huge whip and easily finesses his KTM over the bar. Ricky Carmichael clears as well. Now to 34 feet, Buyten tries first and misses both attempts. Renner and Carmichael clear 34 feet. As the bar steps up to 35 feet tension is high as it is down to the final two riders. Renner is up first. Unfortunately he misses both attempts and he needs Carmichael to miss to still have a chance. Carmichael misses both of his tries and now each rider will get another shot. Renner lines up for his third shot at clearing 35 feet. He launches and taps the bar and doesn't make it over. Carmichael lines up and goes for the jump - doesn't quite make it and crashes on the landing. Carmichael is out and the competition is declared a tie. Renner earned gold! "This is one of my favorite competitions. I was having so much fun I wish I would have had another chance to clear the bar. I am happy to get the X-Games gold and am already looking forward to next year," commented Renner. Moto X Step Up Results Ronnie Renner - GOLD - 34' Channels: Moto Puke and RALLYThe most unpredictable discipline at X Games 15 will be Rally, a bunch of pimped out rice rockets, with drivers who are known for other things than their driving, whipping around a track including a 70ft jump in the middle of the Home Depot Center. ![]() What makes this year's Rally so great is the drivers that are competing. It is to no ones surprise when Travis Pastrana decided to retire from freestyle moto and do Rally he'd be good, so good that he's the defending 2 time X Games Gold Medalist. It seems like what ever he does he's good at, he just throws up the thumbs up and wins! Fellow crossover athletes Dave Mirra and Brian Deegan aren't expected to do as well, but I'm sure they will make for some entertaining television. Keep an eye out for Deegan, on Tuesday while I was out at El Toro Marine Base watching Team Ford practice, Deegan was struggling, hitting cone after cone. But after talking to him at lunch, I understood why, he races trucks, not rally cars, in fact that was only the second time he drove his Ford Fiesta that he'll be driving with on Sunday at X Games. He's pretty fired up to jump the Fiesta, he's not sure how the car will jump but he doesn't care, in fact he said, "If I'm losing, I'm just going to launch the frickin fiesta as high as I can and get the crowd excited." ![]() Now for my predictions; if I was a betting man, which I am, so if anyone wants to make a wager, let's do it, Tanner Foust will win gold at X Games 15. After driving with him inside his Fiesta, I couldn't believe how close he gets to every cone and barrier without hitting them. Plus he is a driver, that's what he does, he drives, plus he seemed a little too excited about the jump on Sunday, so he has what it takes to win. I also predict, Pastrana will do something insane that will cost him the victory, Brian Deegan will roll his fiesta at some point in the race, and Mirra will still be known as the golden boy of BMX, not Rally.
