  • Team Kachinsky Wins Nike 6.0 HB BMX Pro

Many would have thought that once Enarson's team won the first round they were bound to win the second as well, but with Corey Martinez and Sean Sexton on Kachinsky's team there were no guarantees. With that doubt, they put on a serious performance in the second round to take the lead by about 20 points to the overall score.

Unfortunately for Reynolds, Danny Hickerson injured his knee and was replaced by Kelly Bolton, who is an awesome rider, but the lost time would prove to be a hindrance as his team places last. Jason Phelan's team including Jeremiah Smith and Maxime Charveron took fourth; and Rob Wise's team featuring Pat Casey and Dakota Roche took third. Despite beings 30 points behind second place, I think the Wise team was a real threat to everybody having the best mix of park skills (Casey) and street skills (Roche).

Martinez and Sexton really let it fly for the live contest and the ladies were cheerin' for sure. Martinez is a faithful, married Southern boy, but who knows about Sexton? The weekend was HOT for sure, and I mean temperature-wise. Once the morning fog burned off the guys were probably sweating pounds off, but athletes such as these aren't ones to say "it's too hot I need to stop" or something.

Pat Casey might have been the biggest crowd pleaser, naturally, as he boosted higher than everyone and did some of the newest tricks on the box jump... Off-axis flip double whip. big Daddy is jealous. Dennis Enarson also joined the high air club, as expected, but he's become my new favorite rider (at least in contests). He's 100% full throttle going for it. Like an energizer bunny. I'm going to go watch all the video parts from the first round now and I hope you do as well. So much good riding went down this weekend. Congratulations to Kachinsky's team for taking the top spot in the second round and that big paycheck home... How do you split an even number three-ways? I guess Team Captain Kachinsky gets the extra penny...

  • 2011 Nike 6.0 BMX Pro (New Format)

For 2011, Nike 6.0 completely changed the format for its annual BMX Pro at the Nike US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach. This year combines street and ramps in a weeklong team event combining live jam sessions with three-minute video parts to truly put the riders and course to the test.

"Video parts, for me, are more fun to film," says Nike 6.0's Garrett Reynolds. "Filming a video part truly shows the will of a rider."

Five three-man teams will compete in the BMX Open, and with rails, ledges, and transitions mixed together, the most progressive riders are set to shine. The teams will ride the course Monday through Friday, and their team filmer will capture the action to create the best video part possible. Then on the weekend, the teams will compete in two live jam sessions. The jam sessions combined with the points they earn from their video part will determine which team takes the title.

"The format and course for Huntington Beach are awesome," adds Nike 6.0's Dennis Enarson. "I couldn't think of a better way to have a contest."

The new video/jam format for the Nike 6.0 BMX Pro is set to produce an incredible summer event, and the five team captains are making sure that their rosters are stacked. Each team captain was chosen for their ability to rip both street and transitions, and their teammates are some of the best riders in BMX. The field is made up of gold medalists and award winning video riders, so the BMX Pro is set to go off. Team rosters are as follows:

    TEAM REYNOLDS
    Captain 1: Garrett Reynolds (US)
    Ty Morrow (US)
    Colin Varnyak (US)
    Producer: Tony Ennis

    TEAM ENARSON
