    Carey Hart was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 17, 1975. His parents divorced when he was very young and he and his younger brother Anthony "Tony" Hart were raised by their father, Tom Hart Hart began competing in motocross races in 1981 at only 6 years old, turned professional in 1993 when he was 18 and began competing in supercross racing at that time. Hart then began competing in freestyle motocross in 1996.


    During the 2000 Gravity Games, Carey was the first to attempt a backflip in competition.

    He has been featured in nationwide ad campaigns for Ford and Mountain Dew, as well as in print publications such as Paper Magazine, Teen People, EXPN The Magazine, Rolling Stone, and has graced the covers of numerous Motocross magazines. Carey has also appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, appeared on The Today Show and has starred in ESPN/Touchstone Pictures' IMAX film, Ultimate X and has cameo appearances in XXx and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle and Pink's videos Just Like a Pill and So What.[citation needed] Carey also appeared as a cast member on the fifth season of the VH1 reality show The Surreal Life.

    Along with Mark Zeff, Hart created Wasted Space, a "tattoo-parlor-inspired" bar, located at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas.
