What Daniel Ek lacks in name recognition stateside, he definitely makes up for with going for broke antics in slopestyle. The Norwegian young blood has made a serious impression on the pro's by gunning massive rotations to the flats—often overshooting the landing altogether. Then he picks himself up by his bootstraps and "sends it" again. Like all Scando's, Daniel has an amazing repertoire of tech moves on the hardpack, and he's more than willing to up the ante in competition—as evidenced by attempting his first backside double-cork 1080 during slopestyle finals in Colorado this season. While a hand drag and revert afterward cost him the podium, the progressive run (including a backside 720 and front 1080) surely announced Daniel's arrival on the U.S. contest scene.
