Spaniard Dany Torres is the 2011 Red Bull X Fighters Champion. He capitalized on the injury to Nate Adams entering the final event by finishing 3rd in Sydney which was enough to overtake the two-time defending champ Adams for the overall X Fighters title.

With Adams hurt coming into the event he settled for an 11th place finish, opening the door for Torres needing a top 5 finish to claim the title. The 24-year-old Spaniard played it safe doing just enough to get the finish he needed. Torres 2011 campaign included wins at the season-opener in Dubai and in the bullfighting ring of Madrid.

As for the final X Fighters of the year Australian Josh Sheehan won the event on his home soil on Cockatoo Island in front of a sell-out crowd of 11,000. Sydney will go down in the 11-year-history of X-Fighters as one of the most spectacular.

The winner Sheehan and fellow Australian Cameron Sinclair landed a total of three double backflips, a trick that once seemed impossible but these guys are now making it look routine.

"I was confident I could do it and just went out and did it," said Sheehan, who defeated New Zealand's Levi Sherwood in the final. "It was what won it for me."

On September 17th, Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour will host the 2011 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour last event. For the first time in the tour's history, an event will go down on Australian soil.

It's the sixth and final stop for the series that will see Aussie Robbie Maddison & eleven other riders, battle it out for the title on Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour.

It's about time a major freestyle motocross tour made its way to the land down under as several successful freestyle motocross riders hail from Australia. The sports popularity among the people is massive, just look at the turns out for the various freestyle demos like Crusty Demons and Nitro Circus.

The location of the event is special to Australian history as the Island was recently added to the World Heritage List as part of 11 convict sites. Unique remnants of the island's history scatter its 18 hectares, including solitary prison cells, hand carved grain silos, a military guardhouse and convict workshops. The island was also an industrial school, a reformatory and one of Australia's biggest shipyards.

This time around the island will be taken over by a different form of hooligans.

American Nate Adams is in the driver seat for his third consecutive X Fighters championship as he sits a top the leader board ahead of Spain's Dany Torres and Norway's Andre Villa. Realistically Adams only needs a solid showing in Sydney to win the title, but knowing his style Adams will be going for broke to put on a show for the crowd.

Cheered on by 25,000 fans, Australia's Robbie Maddison tamed Madrid's legendary bullfighting ring on Friday night as he secured victory against the best freestyle motocross riders on the planet. Second place went to the Swiss rider Mat Rebeaud, with the Red Bull X-Fighters filling the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas right down to the very last seat for the ninth year running.

The sound of wailing motors rang through the tunnels around the famous bullfighting arena as the two-wheeled toreros raced towards the kickers at up to 60km/h. It was Aussie superstar Robbie Maddison - famous for jumping over London's iconic Tower Bridge in 2009 and sailing across the Corinth Canal in Greece in 2010 - who raised the bar yet again in the Spanish capital with a brand-new trick, completing one full rotation of his body over the bike while 15 metres in the air before returning to the saddle to nail the trick and ride away. "The Volt Body Varial definitely helped me win," grinned the man from Down Under after his victory, adding: "I still can't believe it!"

Just weeks after beginning training following a major crash, Switzerland's Mat Rebeaud celebrated a comeback to remember as he defeated the local favourite and 2009 winner Dany Torres (ESP) in the Semi-Finals. Despite having to settle for fourth place, the Spaniard had nothing but words of praise for the huge Madrid crowd and event winner Robbie Maddison: "The atmosphere here is just insane. Next year I'll be back to take revenge, but Maddison deserved to win here tonight. Thank you to all the fans."

Third place went to Andrè Villa (NOR), who managed to defend his lead in the overall points classification thanks to yet another strong performance. The Norwegian has a 45-point lead over Maddison going into the fifth stop of the season in London (GBR) on 14 August 2010. "I've got to stay consistent and finish on the podium in London and at the season finale in Rome. If I manage to do that then nothing can stand between me and the overall title," commented Villa.

Just weeks after the spectacular FMX showdown under the gaze of the Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt, the 2010 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour is set to celebrate yet another premiere as it touches down on Moscow's famous Red Square. The 12 best FMX riders in the world will come together in the heart of the Russian capital's famous old town on Saturday, June 26 to battle it out head to head as the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour hits Russia for the first time.

Preparations for the third stop of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2010 on Red Square in the heart of Moscow have completed, with the kickers and landing hills moved into place in front of St. Basil's Cathedral, with Lenin's Mausoleum and the walls of the Kremlin just beyond the world-famous colored onion domes in anticipation of the world's best FMX riders. More than 40,000 spectators are expected to pack the famous square, which was named a World Heritage Site in 1990.

To prepare for his first Red Bull X-Fighters appearance, Russian rider Alexey Kolesnikov made history at his training compound in Kolomna by becoming the first freestyle motocross athlete in history to jump a bike over a flying truck. Despite strong winds, Kolesnikov threw several different tricks over nine-ton Kamaz truck driven by 2010 Dakar Rally winner Vladimir Chagin of Russia, including a huge backflip off the kicker. After two of the six stops making up the World Tour 2010, it is the winner of the season opener in Mexico, Norway's Andr Villa, who leads the overall standings. However, the rest of the international FMX elite is in hot pursuit, with 2009 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour Champion Nate Adams just 35 points behind Villa in second, while fellow American rider Adam Jones will be hoping to recapture the form that gave him a surprise win in Egypt.

Double backflip legend Cameron Sinclair is fit again after his horrifying crash last year in Madrid and will be looking to mix it again with the best in the world in Moscow. Also returning will be Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour winner 2008 Mat Rebeaud of Switzerland, who suffered a heavy fall during training for the World Tour 2010 that forced him out of the first two stops of the season. Last but not least, Spanish wunderkind Dany Torres is also back. Torres rode the first stop of the season in Mexico City's bullfighting ring with a broken arm, forcing him to land several tricks one-handed. An operation meant he had to watch from the sidelines in Egypt, but the fans' favorite is back and raring to go in Moscow.

The event begins at 8.30 p.m. local time. After stops in Madrid on July 22-23 and London on August 14, the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour Champion will be crowned at the season finale in Rome on October 1.
