| WWA Wakeboard Worlds Heads to Indianapolis For 2011 One of the largest and most prestigious action-sports events on the planet is set to make its debut in Indianapolis, Ind. when the ROCKSTAR WWA Wakeboard World Championships, presented by Supra arrives at the Precedent on Aug. 18-21. More than 200 professional and amateur wakeboarders and wakeskaters from across the globe will compete in the 18th annual invitation-only event for a shot at a world title.Since its inception in 1994, the ROCKSTAR WWA Wakeboard World Championships, presented by Supra has attracted more than 1,000 competitors from more than 20 countries. Competitors, ranging from 7 years old to 55 years young, earn their invitation to the WWA Worlds by qualifying at their respective countries' national championships. At the WWA Worlds, athletes compete in heats through a series of rounds during the course of the contest. In each heat, competitors perform rail tricks and aerial maneuvers while being pulled along the water by the event's official towboat, the Supra Launch 242. Tricks are judged by a panel of officials, with only the top-scoring athletes in each heat advancing on to the following round of the contest, until a winner is determined in the finals. The 2011 ROCKSTAR WWA Wakeboard World Championships, presented by Supra will feature 23 division categories, separated by age, gender, sport and skill level. The WWA Worlds has also added two new adaptive categories for wake athletes with limb loss and limb difference. The event is highlighted by its top two categories - the Pro Men's and Pro Women's divisions. Last year, Dean Smith became the first Australian native to win the world title in the Pro Men division, while British standout Nicola Butler captured her second world title in three years in the Pro Women division. Both world champions are expected to compete in the 2011 WWA Worlds to defend their titles. Erik Ruck is let go from Hyperlite but then picked up by Ronix. April 2010 Bob Soven wins his first professional wakeboard contest in Miami. May 2010 Body Glove's "Slick City" premieres in Orlando. July 2010 Danny Harf wins 13,000 big ones at Bro Stock 2010. Raph Derome wins Wake The Line in Germany, cementing his ballot for rail rider of the year. Amber Wing is the first woman to ever land a 900 wake 2 wake. Harley Clifford wins Air Nautique U.S. Nationals. Bob Soven wins his first Pro Tour event, Pro Tour #4 in Colorado. August 2010 Tom Fooshee wins Monster Energy Triple Crown Stop #2 in Kansas, Winning the overall title as well here. Bob Soven beats Phillip Soven in Canada taking home WakeStock Title. Harley Clifford wins Pro Tour #5 in Tennessee, but loses overall title to Phillip Soven. Dean Smith wins WWA Wakeboard Worlds in Orlando,Fl in a surprise victory. Harley Clifford lands first Back Mobe 720 wake 2 wake and then goes to Parks Double or Nothing too win with it there. Raph Derome wins Rail Rider of The Year. September 2010 Steel Lafferty Sticks a ToeSide Back 900 to win Wakeboard move of the year. Lior Sofer wins Monster Triple Crown stop #3 in Ohio. December 2010 Nico Von LerchenFeld wins Red Bull's Wake of Fame Its been an amazing year for everyone but its clearly been a better year for the Liquid Force Team. I have said it before but I am pretty sure Liquid Force made a deal with the devil. With Liquid Force team only growing this year will we see a repeat performance next year? All I know for sure is that I cant for May for all the fun to start again. Pro riders from throughout the globe spent the day competing for world titles, with the results from the Pro Men and Pro Women's divisions also deciding the winners of the King of Wake and Queen of Wake series. The Pro Men's division proved to be one of the most exciting finales in the WWA World Championship's 17-year history. With top seed Harley Clifford failing to advance past the semifinals, Danny Harf, Trevor Hansen, Dean Smith and brothers Phillip and Bob Soven faced off in the five-man final. All five pros threw down impressive runs, but Aussie Dean Smith made the biggest impact on the water to take home his first-ever world title. Phillip Soven and Trevor Hansen rounded out the Pro Men's division podium, respectively. "This is so sick, I'm the world champion for the next 365 days" said Smith. "Going into the finals, I didn't know what would happen, but I just put it together out there and won." With today's win, Dean Smith becomes the first Australian native to win the world title in the Pro Men's division. Phillip Soven's second-place finish today placed the Longwood, Fla. at the top of the King of Wake standings, earning him his third crown in four years. "I wanted to finish off the season with a win, but I'm not going home empty handed, I still won King of Wake," said Soven. In the Pro Women's division, the top professional female riders in the world faced off in six-woman final for the world title and deciding points toward the Queen of Wake series. Despite light rain and wind, top seed Nicola Butler laid down the most impressive run of the day, which included a transfer back lip onto the funbox, to win her second world title in three years. "I didn't ride my best, I had a couple of falls, but I was stoked about my transfer," said Butler. "It feels awesome to win." With today's win, the England native finishes the 2010 season at the top of the Queen of Wake standings - Butler's second crown in three years. "I had a bad year in 2009, so to come back this year and win Queen of Wake is like redemption," said Butler. Reed Hansen took first place today in the Pro Wakeskate finals to win his fourth consecutive world title. "Worlds is my favorite contest, so to win it four times in a row is pretty amazing," said Hansen. "The other guys in my heat really push me to ride better and win events like today." Channels: More 2010 Mastercraft Pro Tour AwardsMost of the awards at the 2010 Pro Tour awards are no secret even before the event. We all knew Balling Bob Soven would win Rookie of the Year. Everyone knew what Phillip Soven had to do to win the Tour Title. Thanks to twitter everyone knew who won 5minutes after the contest. Today there not much you can keep secret or a surprise. When you put everyone on the Pro Tour into a theater with a bar and music you might get some surprises. As the night went on the surprises got better and better.
