  • Mini-Ramp Jamming On The Sunset Strip

Last Thursday night, the folks at Skateboarder magazine threw the Sunset Rampage, a mini-ramp bash at the Sunset BLVD. staple, The Standard Hotel (pretend "Standard" is upside down like it is on the hotel sign). If you've never been, The Standard is a creative little "crash spot" right smack in the middle of the Sunset strip in Hollywood, complete with things like "giant hand" chairs and trippy bathrooms. And due to the locale it's also a pricey joint, which makes what Skateboarder successfully pulled so, as Mike Carroll would say "hyphy."

Speaking of Mike Carroll, the Girl skateboards boss was in attendance along with other skate industry bosses like: Lance Mountain, Sal Barbier, Eric Koston and "The Boss," Andrew Reynolds. Others in attendance were Kenny Anderson, Dylan Rieder, Curran Caples and Vincent Alvarez. Translation: Some serious ripping went down on the strip that night, even industry guys like Gravis TM, Mark Oblow, were getting in on the action.

In the end though, the youthful heavyweights of transition skateboarding prevailed:

    1. Raven Tershey - $2,500
    2. Andrew Langi - $1,500
    3. Tom Remilard - $1,000

  • Nike SB And P.Rod In NYC

The Nike SB skate team was recently in New York City cruising the streets and putting on a demo for the kids. And yes the big names did show up. And when talking of Nike SB the big names are Eric Koston and Paul Rodriguez. The reason was the launch of P.Rod's new shoe the Paul Rodriguez Zoom IV. To coincide with the release Nike has set up mini-site with high quality photos and video, cruise over by clicking here.

  • Tough Times Equal Second Jobs For Pro Skateboarders

We're all feeling the pinch of the current hard economic times, and big time pro skateboarders aren't excluded. Even
onesthat sign with big companies like Nike. Yup, Eric Koston had to get asecond job making pretzels at an Auntie Anne's. You heard right, I sawhim the other day at the Valley mall twisting some dough.

Just kidding, Daryl Angel found this dude the other day, took a photo, and sent it on over to Crailtap.I'd have to say that is a dead on match for the Frost man. If theChocolate video has a big ellaborate intro like Fully Flared did, andthey want Koston to partake again, he won't need show up. This guy canbe his stunt double.

Hell, I think Koston should put this guyon retainer. You know for demos, and all the other "meet and creep"things he has to go to. All he'll have to do is top whatever AuntieAnnie pays.
