Keanu Asing Sends a Message at the Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure Pro Junior

Compact Hawaiian powerhouse Keanu Asing, the 16-year old from Ewa Beach, Oahu, continued his impressive West Coast swing by winning the Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure Pro, a Grade-4 Junior event, which wrapped Monday at the Huntington Beach Pier. The Grade-4 event was the largest of the season on the North American circuit, and the extra points Asing secured will play a huge role in securing a spot representing the Hawaiians at the World Junior Championships in January.

Evan Thompson knows how to put himself in the spotlight. In March of 2006, the 13-year-old won the Billabong Surf Rat series 13-and-Under division, while his brother, Tristan, was not too far behind, finishing a close second. Not to mention, this USA team member also took home the Rip Curl GromSearch at New Smyrna Inlet in August, and this past September won the Open Juniors and Explorer Boys divisions in the first NSSA Southeast/North event of the year. When it comes to making heats, Thompson's already showing his has the savvy to go far.
