  • Wake Park Triple Crown Dates Announced!

The World Wakeboard Association announces the schedule for the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown Presented by Alliance Wakeboard Magazine. The growth and focus on cable wakeboarding is bringing more sponsors, more athletes, new parks and bigger prize money to the Wake Park Triple Crown for 2011. This summer the tour travels to three new locations including Adrenaline Adventures in Winnipeg, Manitoba, McCormick's Cable Park in Tampa, Florida and Hydrous-Allen Wake Park in Allen, Texas. Each state-of-the-art wake park is gearing up for this one-of-a-kind wake park contest series.

In addition to North America's most competitive cable series, the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown will include more prize money and more focus allotted to the obstacles division. Now riders like Kevin Henshaw, Gabe Lucas, Shane Bonifay, Raphael Derome, Shawn Watson, JD Webb and all of the athletes who are focused predominantly on the obstacles will have a legitimate obstacle oriented Wake Park Triple Crown Series with their own overall championship.

The brand new six-tower wake park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada named Adrenaline Adventures will be pulling double duty as it hosts the first stop of the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Triple Crown Presented by Alliance Wakeboard Magazine and the 2011 WWA Wake Park World Series. This snow park in the winter and wake park in the summer plays a true four season roll in the community.

McCormick's Cable Park in Tampa, Florida will host the second stop of the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown July 23-24. This will be the first major contest that McCormick's Cable Park will host and the staff is ready to show the nation what their park is all about.

Only time will tell if history will repeat itself at the final stop of the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown and the 2011 WWA Wake Park National Championships as riders battle it out for the title in Allen, Texas at Hydrous-Allen Wake Park. This exciting new wake park, located adjacent to Allen High School will bring the masses out to see what will likely be a dramatic finale of the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown.

"America's Cable Park Group and Hydrous - Allen Wake Park are excited to work with Monster Energy and the WWA as we host our first Wake Park Triple Crown and Wake Park Nationals in the same year," states owner Chad Lacerte, "Allen Station Park is a tremendous setting for this event which advances our goals to give the youth fun, exciting, and community building activities to be involved in."

Last year, the 2010 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown was largely dominated by wake park sensation, Tom Fooshee. Though in the final round at the WWA Wake Park National Championships held in Cincinnati, Lior Sofer of Israel, managed to hand Tom Fooshee his first loss in years. Lior finished the series second overall behind Fooshee, followed closely by Keith Lidberg and an ever-growing global crew of athletes. Make sure to keep a close eye on the 2011 Monster Energy WWA Wake Park Triple Crown this year as riders attempt to lay down the most progressive lines to claim the title. Riders such as Lior Sofer, Keith Lidberg, Marc Shuster, and European wildcard riders, like Nick Davies, Freddie Van Osten, and Dominik Guehrs will all be vying for Fooshee's title.

  • Rail Jam at Texas Motor Speedway

If you're a NASCAR fan then you know that the season is winding down with only three events remaining in the "Chase for the Cup." One of those races went down last weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway at the AAA Texas 500. The festivities kicked off Sunday morning at 10:00 am in the Nationwide garage area and the highlight was a wakeboard rail jam Texas style! It was all part of the "No Limits Garage Party" that the Speedway created for season ticket holders.

Invitations went out to over 20,000 season ticket holders and a ton of them RSVP'd. By noon the garage area was packed and all eyes were on wakeboarding. The boys from Step Up Productions provided the set-up and a small crew of top Texas guys - Gabe Lucas, Bret Little, Clay Stewart - joined Phil Soven and Kyle Alberts to show the NASCAR Nation what it's all about. At the peak of the party, spectators were stacked twenty deep the entire length of the set-up. Dano "Noise of the North" Mano called the action and kept the crowd entertained the way only Dano can.

They do it up big in NASCAR and this event was no different. After the garage party demos, the wake crew all headed to the bus parked in turn #1 and settled in for three hours of left turns and cold beverages. Willy Nelson was on-hand to sing a few tunes for the crowd before the flag dropped and we also had a chance encounter with Christopher "Big Black" Boykin whose murdered out Charger was parked right behind the bus.On the track, driver Denny Hamlin's victory wasn't a knockout blow to Jimmie Johnson's title hopes, but it did deliver a stinging message to the four-time defending NASCAR Sprint Cup champion.

Hamlin's win, his series-best eighth of the season, his second straight at Texas Motor Speedway and the 16th of his career, was perhaps more effective than the haymaker Jeff Gordon--yes, Jeff Gordon--tried to lay on Jeff Burton after Burton wrecked the No. 24 Chevrolet under caution on Lap 190.It's always a party when the crew gets together in Texas and this past weekend was no exception. Thanks to the folks at TMS for having us out and to all of the riders, friends family and crew who made it happen

  • Texas is the new wakeboarding mecca.

For years everyone has been convinced that Orlando,FL is the mecca of wakeboarding but in my recent to travels to texas I feel different. Texas is huge! and so is the wakeboard scene in Texas. The amount of wakeboarders in texas easily doubles the amount in Florida. OWC has always been a factor for Orlando's claim to fame but with TSR and 2 new cable parks being built in Texas thats no longer a factor. With riders like Tom Fooshee and Gabe Lucas paving the way for the texas scene we are going to be seeing a lot more from texas soon.

This little video by Joey Arciz is a prime example of some of the talent in texas.
