    Description:Multiple South African Junior Moto X Champion in the following classes: 50cc Automatic, PW 80cc Semi Automatic, DS 80cc Lever, KX 60cc Lever Competed at the 1993 NMA World Mini Grand Prix in Las Veges, USA at eight years of age and won the 50cc stock class and finished second in the 60cc stock class. Was chosen to ride for Kawasaki South Africa in 1995, a relationship which lasted until Gareth's move to Europe in 2000. South African 125cc High School National Champion in 1999 at 14 yrs of age. Rode as a guest rider for MJ Church Kawasaki in the 125cc Schoolboy Class at the Sheffield Supercross in the UK in 1999, achieving overall 3rd position. Competed in the International Youth Race in Bergem in Holland in 2000 on a 125cc and came 2nd position overall. Competed in the 125cc ADAC German Supercross Series at the end of 2000 and won events in Stuttgart and Munich before crashing and having to withdraw from the series in Dortmund whilst lying second in the Supercross Championship. Won the German 125cc Championship for Kolling Yamaha in 2003 Won the German 0pen Championship for Kolling Yamaha in 2003 Rode for the South African Team in the MX1 class at The Moto X of Nations in Lierop in 2004. Gareth rode to a 4th position in the combined MX1 and MX3 class. The team tied with France and Estonia but lost 3rd position on a count-out. Still achieving SA's best position ever in this event. 2004 was Gareth's first full year in competing in the World MX Championship, Gareth main aim was to qualify for these events. The year ended with some strong performances. A fifth position overall at the Irish GP, 2nd quickest in qualifying a the Sun City GP and a strong ride to 4th position in the first heat at the Sun City GP a well - 21st overall in world standings. 2004 also saw Gareth compete in his first AMA American National Moto X event in Unadilla, riding as a guest rider for the Red Bull KTM Team. Gareth qualified, then rode to an excellent 8th position in the 2nd heat. 2005 started off with a shoulder injury however Gareth recovered to post a 4th place finish in the second moto of the Irish GP - 21st overall in world standings By the age of 21yrs Gareth has been selected to represent South Africa at the following events: 1999 - The 80cc World Championship in Gaildorf Germany. 2000 - The Coup de Lavinoir (Under 21 World Championship) in Jamiouxl, Belgium. 2001 - The All African Moto X Union Championship in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. 2001 - The Moto X of Nations in Namur Belgium. 2003 - The Moto X of Nations in Zolder Belgium 2004 - The Moto X of Nations in Lierop. 2005 - The Moto X of Nations in Ernee. And, after the move to Europe: 2000 - Gareth moved to Germany to ride for the German based Vangani KTM Team. 2001 - Gareth was based in Belgium, riding for Vangani KTM Team. 2002 - Gareth moved to the German based Kosak Kawasaki Team 2003 - Gareth rode for the German based Kolling Yamaha Team. 2004 - Rode for the German Kosak KTM Team whilst based in Belgium. 2005 - Competing for the UK Molson Kawasaki Team.
